Dated September 1, 1862, this state of North Carolina $1.00 note was printed by J. T. Paterson & Co. of Augusta, Georgia and issued from the capital at Raleigh. Though not graced with an attractive vignette, it does feature a very intricate scrollwork design along the left hand edge, with the financial obligations dominating the remainder of the piece.

In crisp un-circulated condition, this lovely piece is highlighted by sharp contrast and full borders (though tight at the right edge). As with most notes of the era, there is no back design on this piece. A very nice example of this early North Carolina issue.
